The Ryder Hotel

Located in the former office of golf legend Samuel Ryder and situated opposite the historic St Albans Cathedral, The Ryder Hotel is a 60 key boutique hotel which is operated by our repeat client, Avantis Hotels.

We were engaged to help deliver the refurbishment and upgrade of the premises to the Tapestry by Hilton brand standards, effectively enabling it to be presented as a new hotel. The building had been operating as a hotel for 25 years, but decor and facilities had become tired and dated. A central component of the project was the reinstatement and celebration of historic features that had been ‘lost’ through unsympathetic changes made during the original conversion, particularly in the front of house areas.

All 60 rooms were refurbished along with a large dining room, reception and public WCs, and a new verdant cocktail bar was created. The works were undertaken using a phased approach whilst the hotel remained fully operational, with careful planning required to protect the health and safety of staff and guests and to make sure the programme was managed and controlled alongside budget.
