Goodenough Hotel

Project Overview

We were appointed as Project Managers, Contract Administrator and Principal Designer for the extensive refurbishment of the Goodenough Hotel in the heart of Bloomsbury. Income from the hotel is used to support the Client, Goodenough College, who are a leading educational charity.

The hotel is situated within what were originally 5 adjacent Grade II listed Georgian properties, now combined into one. The refurbishment principally dealt with upgrading the fabric of the building and FF&E improvements to all of the 65 bedrooms so that the hotel could achieve 4 star status. Fire protection and prevention systems were also improved.

The Client set a challenging fixed scope, budget and programme for the project at the outset. The hotel had to be closed to guests during the works and key to our brief was making sure that the closure and associated loss of revenue was kept to a minimum. We achieved this via careful control and management of the cost and programme, providing proactive advice on the construction process to this lay Client throughout.
