St James’s Street Office

Project Overview

Our team worked on the fit out and upgrade of headquarter office space for Berry Brothers & Rudd, London’s oldest wine and spirits merchant. Their offices are spread across six interconnected Grade I & II Listed Buildings around the historic Pickering Place on St James and three separate listed building applications were required prior to works on site beginning.

The project was undertaken in five phases so as not to disturb the Client’s business operations and the design placed heavy emphasis on improving the wellbeing of users whilst preserving the historic legacy of the existing buildings. Project challenges included the careful decanting of staff throughout the buildings to enable the works to proceed in separate phases. This necessitated overnight relocations and IT moves to ensure business continuity for the client. The constraints of working within listed buildings required meticulous pre-construction surveying and planning and also a high degree of flexibility to deal with the structural and architectural ‘surprises’ inevitably uncovered within historic buildings.

The completed project’s natural finishes, with an emphasis on high quality oak furniture throughout, were much appreciated by the Client’s team who noted ‘our offices are a delight to work in and have had a big impact on positivity and productivity amongst colleagues’.
