The Challenge
The project provided a number of challenges including designing the works so that they could be undertaken in an occupied space, integrating new technology and services into the existing building structure and fabric and completing works concurrently with the construction of a new deck car park on land adjacent to the main building.
The project also required spaces suitable for specialist facilities such as media and television production space and providing accommodation for an industrial printer which will allow the IET to print their reports and journals in-house
The Outcome
The completed works included the full replacement of the M&E services, with new VRF air conditioning, ventilation and an innovative heat recovery system installed. The M&E services also include new data, AV and IT installations to provide a fully integrated high tech office environment for users. The M&E design was integrated with ‘Smart Building’ technologies and a building app was developed for desk booking, access control, and environmental monitoring.
