Private Residence, Belgravia

The Brief

We have recently completed the extensive refurbishment and upgrade of two adjoining Grade II residential houses – once used as an embassy – set within the heart of Belgravia on the Grosvenor Estate, for a high-profile client. The brief was to sensitively adapt and extend the properties to meet the needs of contemporary living. This includes a large extension of the basement area to accommodate the inclusion of a pool, spa and leisure facilities. The Client enjoys hosting and entertaining, and dedicated space was designed for this purpose.

The Challenge

The project included stripping out the entire building, demolishing the existing Mews building and basement areas, creating a new rationalised basement area, constructing a new Mews house, re-roofing and full structural and aesthetic refurbishment of the existing house shell, some areas of which were in poor condition. Specialist contractors were appointed to ensure the period finishes and features – including the historic Listed fabric – were sympathetically preserved and restored to their original elegance.

The Outcome

The works across the 6 storey buildings were carried out to the highest standards, with heritage elements blending seamlessly with the newly formed spaces and modern facilities. As well as the usual family living areas the completed residence now includes guest bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, a family office, staff bedrooms and living quarters, a bar and DJ area, swimming pool, sauna, gym and beauty treatment rooms.

The works were procured on a two-stage basis and our team worked closely with the design team and contractor to procure the packages, which came in under the Client’s budget.
