Cedars Youth and Community Centre

Project Overview

The project saw the demolition of an existing building and its replacement with a purpose built youth, sports and community centre. Inspired by its context within a much-loved public park, the building design features green roofs, timber louvres and stone gabion walls.

Sustainability and environmental considerations were key to the brief; the new space is much more energy efficient than the site`s previous building and includes a solar wall and rainwater harvesting system.

Interior spaces are designed to allow young people to fully express themselves whilst ensuring the centre is accessible and welcoming to the whole community. Facilities include a full size sports hall, changing facilities, gym, cafe and social spaces, kitchen, music and drama space, learning resource area, gallery and crafts and activity spaces.

Outside a new all weather pitch and play area have been added, and landscaping of the surrounding park area has been enhanced. This project was funded by mulitiple stakeholders and we worked closely with them to ensure their key objectives were fulfilled.
