Yavneh College

Project Overview

Yavneh College is a modern Orthodox Jewish school, established in 2006, and set within 13 acres of land in Hertfordshire. We worked on the refurbishment of an existing, largely derelict, wing of the school, together with an entirely new build teaching block. The scheme delivered state-of-the-art teaching facilities, with the expansion of space enabling 250 more pupils to join.

The new teaching block includes art classrooms; food technology laboratories; music, drama and multi-media rooms; and new accessible infrastructure including lifts. The refurbished wing now houses a multi-use school hall with high level balcony seating. The introduction of a stage area, lighting and audio visual installations enables this space to be used for staging theatre productions along with other events.

Externally, the scheme included new multi-use games areas and all-weather sports pitches along with new hard and soft landscaping. Integral to this landscaping element was a large courtyard/quad area suitable for hosting festivals and gatherings.
The works were undertaken whilst the remainder of the school was still in operation, creating complex logistical challenges and requiring careful phasing and decanting arrangements.
