The Relay Building

The Relay Building is a 22 storey mixed use development located on the City fringe which includes 207 residential units. Our team was engaged at short notice by the Client following a large fire on the 17th floor. No one was injured but the fire caused considerable damage to one apartment with smoke and water damage extending to communal areas and apartments across several floors in the building. Externally the glazed façade was damaged with some panels falling to the ground during the incident.

Our work on the remediation and repair has included liaising with the insurer and selecting a procurement and contract strategy that provides best value, whilst also being sensitive to the duration of the works within an occupied building.

A large number of residents had to be relocated to temporary accommodation until the reinstatement works were complete, leading to significant external costs and considerable disruption to the lives of those residents.
