We recently provided cost consultancy services for the internal refurbishment and extension of a penthouse apartment in a Grade II Listed 19th century stucco building. The property sits within the Pembridge Conservation Area, close to Portobello Road.
The project entailed a soft strip out and demolition to designated internal spaces in order to add an extra storey through the creation of a new mezzanine floor level. This level was designed with a floor partly constructed in glass and is linked to the floor below via a minimalist steel staircase. Works to the existing roof area included the addition of large new roof dormers which then open out onto a newly constructed enclosed seated rooftop terrace.
Extensive alterations and the reconfiguration of internal layouts were included as part of the refurbishment. The works also included a new heating system, mechanical, electrical and lighting installations and new sanitary ware.
