Farm Shop

The Brief

We recently provided CDM (Health & Safety) services for this artisan retail outlet in the heart of Mayfair. The design brief entailed stripping back the existing retail unit, which includes vaulted basement space, to create an authentically rustic-feeling destination.

Although not a listed building, the site is immediately adjoined by listed buildings to the south and west and forms part of the Grosvenor Estate.

The Challenge

As Principal Designer, we helped form the access and maintenance strategy and ran CDM workshops to ensure all aspects of health & safety compliance were followed.

As CDM Advisor we then attended site throughout construction to audit works as they progressed. Challenges including the discovery of asbestos and water ingress were handled by our team, who were central to developing the asbestos management plan.

The Outcome

The new premises sells a range of seasonal and foraged fruit and vegetables, wine, cheese, honey, spirits and more, with much of the produce coming directly from the Client’s 1,000 acre Somerset estate. There’s also a separate butchery room and 40 cover café space.

This is the second farm shop opened by Artfarm, who we also worked with on the Roth Bar & Grill at Durslade Farm, home of Hauser & Wirth’s renowned Somerset gallery.
